Meet the Pastor, The Rev. Cheryl Raine, who began her ministry with us on January 16, 2017.
It is hard to believe I have completed my second year among you. Time flies when one feels called to serve. I marvel at hearing the stories of how God in working in and through you and us. It is exciting to see how God has worked through us in 2018: the joy of our all church worship services where gifts are generously shared; raising $2,000 as Team Presbyterian for Stater Brothers Charities through the Believe Walk; baptizing children and welcoming new members; faith formation classes tackling subjects that expand our understanding of the gospel; participating in Redlands Family Services Hunger Walk to raise money to feed the hungry in our community; welcoming the Symphony’s Summer Music Academy for the second year to our campus in July; improving the facility in multiple ways and so much more.
And 2019 is off to an amazing start with a new focus: Living the heart and mind of Christ at the heart of the city. We have two major capital projects underway, both designed to benefit the church as well as our community partners. We are developing a park on the corner of Vine and 4th, taking our vacant dirt lot and creating something beautiful and useful. We are also upgrading our 50 years old Sanctuary HVAC system. In addition, we a group working to envision restructuring the front of our sanctuary for handicap accessibility as well as for multi use purposes with community partners. The Spirit is moving among us and we are committed to making a difference in the community.
If you are new to the area, I’d love to hear your story about what brought you to Redlands. This is a wonderful city with lots of opportunity to serve our amazing God. “Come and see,” said Jesus. Yes, come and see God at work through the First Presbyterian Church of Redlands!
